I am a fiction writer based in Cork City, Ireland. My second book, LIBERTY TERRACE (Doire Press, 2021) has been described, inter alia, as:
‘Acutely witty… Dysfunctional families and long-lasting traumas loom large over these darkly funny stories.’ Irish Times, 4/12/21.
‘… a charming, honest commentary on modern Ireland, reminiscent of Donal Ryan’s The Spinning Heart. Enchanting and engaging.’ Margaret Bonass Madden, Sunday Independent, 10/10/21.
My début short story collection, WAITING FOR THE BULLET (Doire Press, 2014), won the Edge Hill Readers’ Choice Prize 2015 (UK).
I have recently completed a novel, FEELING SAVAGE, and have begun a second novel.
In 2010 I received the Hennessy Literary Award for First Fiction and Hennessy New Irish Writer Award.
I have an MA in Creative Writing (UCC) and am a qualified solicitor.
I have been awarded bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland and Cork City Council.
I am currently an Arts Council peer panellist. I co-curate Fiction at the Friary, a free monthly fiction event in Cork City, with fellow-writer Danielle McLaughlin.
